Happy Things!  0

I changed my page format, it should make it easier to navigate! I hope you like it, it sure makes me happier.

I am currently excited to have antibiotics due to a bad tooth, and grumpy because antibiotics make me feel horrible. But I guess you have to take the good with the bad. My doctor for some reason asked about my cats today, which makes me wonder if I seem like the crazy cat lady type, but I will completely deny it. Speaking of which, Butters has an imaginary friend he plays with now, it’s hilarious.

My favorite guy, Patrick Gilmore, has been cast in a new show with my boyfriend, David Tennant! I think it will be a hit just because they are both in it, but that’s just me. I’m not sure what it is about or what kind of roles they are going to play, but I will let you know when I find out. I’m cool like that.

I am currently stitching a secret project that I am very excited about and hope to document the whole thing for you guys. It feels good to work on a big project I must say. I am also working on some charts to add to ravelry, which is a bit of an undertaking and might take some time compiling photos and instructions, but I’m pretty jazzed about it.

The Olympics are on so many shows are on a mini-hiatus, including Supernatural, which just got picked up for Season 10! I seriously thought they decided this would be the last year, crazy good stuff. So today I bring you a chart that let’s me express my love for glass work (I was a glass and sculpture major in college), and everyone’s favorite socially awkward angel, Castiel. He had this God complex for a minute and put himself on a church window, and I loved it! I have two versions, one more complex than the other. They are both for pillows. I also have the DMC color charts for you cross stitchers out there.

As always, please feel free to ask questions, send in pics of your creations, or request something for me to chart. You can do so in the comments or on Twitter @FPMolina.

Let’s do the Arctic Vortex!  6

Hello Stitchers, if you haven’t heard, it’s freekin cold outside! I have spent the last few days huddled under my electric blanket with my phone. My tea gets cold in a few minutes and unbeknownst to the Landman, the hot water pipe has frozen. For some reason I decided to leave the house for an appointment today. I took the bus since my car has no heat, and let me tell you it looks like a ghost town downtown. The busses are even running on time, it’s like bizzaro world. Before you mention how we are weinies because it’s not that cold for you, our infrastructure and wardrobes are not built for this. A water main even exploded downtown yesterday. If it had snowed at least we would have a little insulation.

Since I have had so much time alone to ponder the world through my phone, I have been watching a lot of Supernatural on Netflix and making some lovely fan girl patterns. I have four for you today. Anti-Demon (Smaller version here), Devil’s Trap, Angel Warding, and Sam doing his mental exorcism face. They are all pillow size (if 5×5=one inch), so I suggest printing out the Large Print versions (2pages) if you don’t have a printer that let’s you choose size. I also have the Sam pattern with the DMC color chart for cross stitch.

I really want to see someone do a girly colored Demon Trap, I guess I’m weird like that.

Enjoy, and stay warm!

Happy New Year!!/You should try turning it off & back on again  0

How is your New Year going? Did you have a great holiday, or should I say have you recovered from the holidays?

I went back to NE Ohio to see the fam. We had Christmas at Grandmas since it will probably be the last year we get too. She seemed to enjoy having everyone around, even if she couldn’t remember who they were. I even found some cookies I could eat, the best cookies too.

My mom and I also went to my brother’s to opened presents with the kids. My niece loves costumes so my thrifty brother bought all kinds of outfits & wigs when everyone had Halloween clearance sales. So smart & so cute. She is going to be a cosplay girl, I can see it. She was the one who played Halo in her flower girl dress.

Along with a blanket my Sis (in-law) made, and a bunch of yarn from my mom, I also got a lot of small things from my Grandmas house. I spent a day helping my Aunt clean and organize a bunch of my grandma’s stuff. She was a kindergarten teacher and very crafty. It was like walking through a time capsule. I tried to only take things I really wanted or could use. It was fun.

So I got back home to Columbus & it hit me. I have spent the last few days, including New Years, in bed sick. My bags aren’t even unpacked.

Once I feel a little better I’m going to restart start my New Years & start the Year off well. So I give you one of my favorite nerd boys, Moss, as our first chart for 2014.

Happy New Year!

Merry Yule & Impending Christmas!  0

Christmas is coming! I hope you are ready. It’s time for all those last second shoppers to go out & wreak havoc in the stores. Personally I finished wrapping up most of my presents today. I only have a few more to finish making & wrap. My title of World’s Coolest Aunt, is on the line. I managed to only purchase some small things, like for my brother lives on M&m’s. My holiday excitement starts on the 21st and ends on New Years, so it’s going to be a busy week of socializing with friends & family, and unfortunately driving.

I thought this week I would pull out a hand full of charts that I either had posted on my old blog, or have been floating around in my Dropbox far too long.

I hope you enjoy your holiday, or at least New Years!

What have you been making for the holidays?

This is a pattern I made shortly after acquiring my charting program. Kaboom!, was one of my favorite games to play on my uncle’s Atari, when I would visit my grandma. We always had Christmas Eve at her house with my mom’s side of the family. Grandma had her own cake shop & would make elaborate gingerbread houses every year. This time of year always reminds me of her, and oddly enough so does Kaboom!

This summer I spent some time helping take care of my other grandma, who has Alzheimer’s. She is in hospice care right now and this year we are going to have Christmas at her house for probably the last time. Always the bird watcher she has a great bird watching window, feeders always well supplied, where there are always cardinals hopping around. I made these patterns during my visit.

*sticks out tongue*  0

A few months ago the whole internet was all a buzz about some award show that Miley Cyrus was on. I had no idea she had another album or grew about two feet. I am not up on my pop culture.

I clicked on some link just to see what the hubbub was about. There was a guy wearing a beetle juice outfit and some oddly placed bears. This includes the one on Miley’s outfit. Personally this is not the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen. I went to art school, after drawing naked homeless men at 7am you grow a thick skin.

My friend Rain has been an avid Miley supporter since the media got on her case about being lude. Personally I would have given her a C+ on her performance, it didn’t seem professional enough. She got the + for shocking the media, since it seems that’s what she meant to do. She could have done a better job at that as well. People need to calm down, it wasn’t that exciting. I’m not a fan of the tongue, but she’s been doing that her whole life. I’d rather think about hot cocoa, or Doctor Who.

So for my dear friend Rain and her positive backing of a kindred quirky kid (one that happens to be in the spot light), I bring you this Miley Cyrus pillow chart. I made a DMC cross stitch chart as well, maybe a simple mini pillow for your desk at work?

Peyton Manning, he’s a golfer right?  0

I just spent an unintentional weekend with the Weims. It has been some time since I left the house intending to be gone for a few hours, then ending up disappearing into movies, puppies, popcorn and lots of ice cream, for days. The old lady in me kept demanding “turn it down, it’s too loud”, so no worries about me reverting into a teenager.

You already know that I am a huge nerd. I also try my darnedest to ignore talk of football. I have lived in downtown Columbus for ages and pride myself on completely ignoring the Michigan game this year. I grew up in a football town (everything Browns or Red & Grey), my Grandfather was a football coach, everyone played football.

I am not a football fan.

There is one name I can’t stop hearing, mainly because Patrick Gilmore is in love with him, and that is Peyton Manning. I know he has a brother that is prettier than him, he plays football for the Broncos, and he has a goofy grin I find charming.

Since he keeps getting thrown around in my universe and lots of people seems to like the guy, I decided to make a Peyton Manning pillow pattern. I hope you still have time to whip one up for the Peyton Lover in your life, the holidays are approaching quickly. I also converted it to cross stitch in case you want a Peyton that is a little more portable.

*I added a simplified & line work pillow for those of you like me who aren’t big fans of weaving in lots of ends

Happy Thanksgiving!  0

I had a sudden lay-off of sorts at the beginning of the month and realized I wouldn’t have the means to go home for Thanksgiving, and the family’s annual gingerbread decorating bonanza.

My niece being super cute last year. Her mom is up top.

So I decided to book myself with some extra time with my old buddies Travis and Sprocket.

Travis loves his bone & pretending he’s a lap dog.

I also decided to watch the dog show with the Weims. It was exhausting for them.

I am taking this opportunity to encourage you to spend the rest of the week with friends and family. Instead of waiting in line to buy the next gizmo, sit and chat while making something by hand that someone will charish. A nice painting or pillow won’t go obsolete in 6 months. Ever since I was a kid I have felt a little bad when I’ve bought all my presents. My family always wants art anyway, it’s the curse of being an artist. No one ever asks my dad for free blood work for Christmas.

Today I made a Patrick Gilmore approved image of him as Captain Chaos. What can I say, I have a soft spot for guys in touch with their inner child.

I have to get back to the girls & pining for my grandmas cranberry salad. Be grateful & be safe on the roads!

Doctor Who!!!  49

It’s about 5:00am and I recently woke up. Usually this is about the time I would finally go to sleep, but I took the Weims on extra long walks today and ended up turning in early so I could get up in the morning and go to a local theater to watch The Big 50th Anniversary Episode of a Doctor Who!!!!! I have been super excited about Doctor Who for weeks. I have been watching it since I can remember, back on the Black & White we had at the farm house. Tonight happened to be the night my Landman decided to fire up the furnace, we burn wood not gas. I woke up sweating because I had grown used to using my electric blanket and trying not to touch the floor. Since I was up and super excited for tomorrow, I figured I would make this post. I found a great image of all the Doctors, on the Internet (Tracked it back to here) 20131123-051530.jpg I thought they would be great as patterns so I whipped a couple up. I also have a couple Tardis washcloths I had previously posted on my old blog. I hope to get the rest of the Doctors up by January, so stop back & check up on them. If you would really like one in particular for me to work on next, let me know. I’m not going in any order. I’m going to try and go back to sleep, and not sleep in for all the fun. Enjoy & save some Jelly Babies for me! -Molina
P.S. These would also make a simple bag. Make two sides, just like the pillow, line with fabric and ad a strap. 20131123-045832.jpg Tardis Washcloth Small 20131123-045900.jpg IMG_2006.JPG *Transformed into a throw by Christine

When Meerkoons attack  0

I live in the city, right across the freeway from a Downtown, in a bad part of town, “The Hood”. One night I went out to get Mr Whiskers who was whining at the door. I go out & a pack of raccoons were running by, heard me, and promptly ran under my car. At this moment I was glad that I didn’t own a hunting dog, for my car would surely be totaled.

For some strange reason this idea popped into my head:

Herds of half Racoon, half Meercat. Yes, my brain has obviously been tampered with. I made some Perler bead patterns out of these little guys because I didn’t think anyone would want to knit them, but then again I do make strange patterns. You can use them to knit if you like, the patterns are basically structured the same.

Keep your trash can lids secure and enjoy!

Donuts!!  0

I’m one of those weird Gluten Free people, I know it sounds crazy, but I feel 100% better when I don’t eat that fantastically tasty stuff. Which means when I get certain cravings I only get as close as smelling them, then back away slowly. Every once in awhile I get a craving for a nice maple roll, or on one particular day DONUTS! So I made patterns instead.

There are several sizes and variations to choose from, to fulfill all your Gluten-Free yarn fantasies. I made a trivet with plastic canvas (in purples) using the washcloth pattern, but gave it to my sister-in-law before I got to take a pic. I’ll try and steal a shot the next time I visit.
