Mixed bag!  0

Hello Stitchers!

I managed to get sick just as the weather decided to get warm, so I had to go two weeks without stitching or charting. It was not fun to say the least. Because of this I decided to post some random charts that haven’t fit in with others. There are a mix of cross stitch square stitches and 5×6 knit stitches.

As always feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, magic cure-all potions, or pics of your creations.

Enjoy!

Rose Tyler, and where I have been  3

Hello there my stitchers! I know it has been quite some time since I have made a post, it seems that leaving the house keeps one busy. Yes, my hermit hat has been replaced by a slightly more social hat. I miss my naps and endless hours for charting. I also had to rest my hand after injuring it, so there is that.

One of the most exciting things I have done while on my chartcation was seeing one of my favorite bands Frog Eyes (video)IMG_1755.JPG
That guy is Carey Mercer, the rest of the band kinda changes over time, which is how I ended up hanging out with the drummer before hand without realizing it. Afterwords we got to hang out with the band and they were very nice Canadians and people. I had got much adrenaline I was shaking for 3 days. It was a great night a long time in the making.

Last weekend was a neighborhood festival, my favorite local festival of the year, and I got to smooze with Babachu and my friend Russ happened to be taking pics capturing the moment.

IMG_2009.JPG
Now that I have some time to sit and relax I finally got around to charting Rose Tyler, as per request. Sadly I haven’t been able to watch any of the new Doctor Who, but my dad is recording them so I can watch them on my visit next week. He is not a fan of the writing this season. What do you think of the darker side of The Doctor?

Enjoy!

*I have also been reformatting my Doctor Who Charts for knit stitches, so check in on those if you are interested

Welcome to my life Night Vale  2

Hello stitchers! It has been some time since I have posted, but I have some very good reasons. I have been working on a campaign to help my Friend Andrea and her family get reunited. There are some horrible probate practices in Ohio that are wrecking not just her family, but the lives of many people that have sudden illnesses. We need to spread the word about her illness Anti-NMDAR Encephalitis, which is newly classified and is commonly misdiagnosed as schizophrenia. Please check out Reunite-R-Family to help Andrea and to help spread the word about this disease.

I also took a week to go visit family. I spent a good portion of my time with my dad, which was awesome. We gave him “The Best Birthday Ever”, went swimming in his lake, and I gave him another “ToeHead” painting to add to his collection.
20140727-164949-60589763.jpg
This one is entitled “Who? Me?”, and was made especially for me by my buddy Daric. Daric is a great artist and you can see More of Daric Gill’s ToeHeads on Facebook or check out his artist blog for news on his many great bodies of work. WOSU, The local PBS affiliate, even did a segment on him for their Broad & High program. If you ever find yourself in Columbus you might see him working in a local coffee shop or riding one of his mopeds around town. He really is a very talented and super nice guy.

I injured a tendon in my right hand so I won’t be doing any stitching or charting for at least a few weeks. I am a pro at hurting myself while doing mundane things.

One of the other things I did this past couple weeks was join another fandom. I know, not that shocking. When I was at Marcon with my friend Rain this year, she talked about Welcome to Night Vale, and although I had heard about it I didn’t know what it was. Welcome to Night Vale, can only be described as a podcast of a news program in a fictitious town where strange things happen to strange people in strange ways. Rain said I should just listen, that I would like it. She was so right. I told her I had started listening and that I loved Night Vale. Then she told me that she and her daughter had gotten into watching Supernatural. They are apparently “in deep”! I am so proud.

Today, thanks to my new found fandom, I bring you a knitting chart of the Welcome to Night Vale cover. It would make a great pillow for any non-existent angel you couldn’t possibly know, or even that faceless woman that secretly lives in your house.

Enjoy!

I Wuv Supernatural  0

Hello my stitchers! I have been working on a hand full exciting projects…that sadly I won’t be able to share with you for quite some time. I know, I’m a bit of a tease, but hopefully it will be worth it.

In Patrick Gilmore news, they finally put out a trailer for the new show he will be on Gracepoint. I’m happy to see my boyfriend David Tennant, on tv again, but his American accent kinda messes with my head. It’s a remake of a BBC show called Broadchurch. Are you guys going to watch? Let me know and we can get nerdy together. Patrick isn’t in the trail and I don’t know what kind of character he will be playing yet, but I’m still excited.

Another exciting thing that happened last week was the Season 9 finale of Supernatural. I totally saw it coming but I still haven’t recovered. I think I’m a bit in denial. I’m not going to spoil anything for you who haven’t seen it, but I will weep with those who have.

I have been working on this cross stitch for some time now, but after that finale it was perfect timing to finish it. Remember everyone’s favorite bi-polar nut-job of a giant teddy bear, T. Bear? Well I mashed him with Dean’s “I Wuv Hugz” teddy bear shirt. Yes now you can sum up all of your post season angst with a nice relaxing cross stitch that feels your pain.

It’s rare but all I have is a cross stitch for you, don’t get too used to it. I did make a large print version of the chart and also one that just has the marks (for you fickle stitchers that do whatever it is you do with those). I do plan on making a version with all the outlines done, but it takes ages for me to do all of that on my phone. *I updated with outlines* Unless I get a visit from the iPad fairy (a girl can dream).

Enjoy your long Memorial Day weekend! Be safe, be thankful, and enjoy!

-Molina

P.S.
Don’t forget to let me know what you want to stitch next!

I don’t know what happened but I seem to have missed the lines on the right paw. That’s what I get for charting past my bead time. I’ll fix it soon.

I need a life….potion  0

Last weekend was MarCon! I had a great time and think I have recovered. If you are into cosplay or multiple fandoms, then this con is for you. This year was a bit of a rebuilding year so the crowd wasn’t as large, but still tons of fun.

I spent most of my day (since I had an overnight puppy gig on Friday, I just got a Saturday pass) following these guys around20140517-163819.jpg
Behind those awesome 100% home made costumes are my friends Rain & Todd. They did such a fantastic job. I spent most of the day making sure they didn’t bump into walls, and cutting strings off their costumes. Who knew, Tusken Raiders shed. What’s super awesome about the whole day, was that not only did they win the Journeymen category of the big Masquerade, but they won best of show! Even better, you can see how to make your own Lady Tusken from Rain herself Here. No, once again I don’t get paid to say these nice things, they are just amazing.

I wish I had gotten more pics from MarCon, but I was having fun, using other peoples cameras, and mothering Tuskens most of the time. I did get a few on my phone, one which made my day, because he gave me a Jelly Baby!

The Fly!

20140517-165043.jpg
This guy was super nice, his friend built this awesome suit for him, but I can’t remember the name of the video game.

20140517-165347.jpg
This guy was great as Rick from The Walking Dead, he had the moves down pat! The pic is red because we were at Barfleet and he was having an in-depth conversation with Todd about the comic books vs show.

There are some much better and pretty cool green screen photos over at The Sci-Fi Photo Guys.

20140518-135927-50367872.jpg

After all that excitement it was time to recharge my hermit batteries, so I cranked out some potion charts for you. These are based off of a game I have been playing since Android was new, Zenonia! It’s more like old school Zelda than any phone game I could find, and I’m addicted. I’m currently playing the 5th installment and it’s killing my sleep patterns. I’m not a big gamer so it holds a special spot in my nerd life.

I’ve got Mana & Life Potions; square with DMC colors and knit blocks, and simplified versions.

The Tardis Key To My Heart  0

In college I worked at a science museum. I did a lot of ushering in the planitarium, you know those people with the red flashlights that kick you out when your kid won’t stop screaming, yep that was me. Because of this I got to spend a lot of time between shows picking the brains of the presenters, most of whom had fancy science degrees. One was a past physicist that I was slightly obsessed with, shocking I know. Randomly one day I started talking about Doctor Who, again shocking. This was pre-Eccelston so us whovians were a little more rare back then. Well as I was explaining how I needed to get a new chain for my Tardis key, He cocks his head to the side and says “you mean like this?”, As He Pulls Out A Chain With A Tardis Key On It! I immediately professed my love for him. It was awkward for him. Last I heard he was traveling the country building planitariums. *sigh*

So today I have two Baker Tardis Key Pillow Patterns. I also have the “true” versions incase you just want to add one to a project. They are both in squared blocks, and the unshaded version in knit squares for now. I will updated later with a knit block version of the shaded one soon.

As always I love getting requests, questions and comments, you can follow my tumblr, You can even tweet me if you don’t want to comment on this page. I’m cool like that.

Enjoy!

Not a cat and not really a dog  0

When I was in third grade I made a little green K-9, from Doctor Who, out of modeling clay for my Dad. I was in my late twenties when he hesitantly told me that K-9 was no more than a pile of clay and sticky dust. I think it was one of the most coveted presents I made him. I must say it was one of my favorites as well.

While I was sitting around being grumpy on anti-biotics, I decided to whip up a pattern of the metallic pup, so I can make another K-9 present for my dad….and you can make one for a beloved Whovian in your life.

I also decided to make some Totoro patterns for some reason. I think a late night Internet search might have inspired them. I had a huge love of Totoro in college.

All patterns are 50×50, pillow sized. If you make multiples you can also sew them together to make a blanket. No cross stitch colors this set, they are pretty basic so they wouldn’t be too hard to make with what you might have around.

Enjoy!

Doctor Who!!!  35

It’s about 5:00am and I recently woke up. Usually this is about the time I would finally go to sleep, but I took the Weims on extra long walks today and ended up turning in early so I could get up in the morning and go to a local theater to watch The Big 50th Anniversary Episode of a Doctor Who!!!!! I have been super excited about Doctor Who for weeks. I have been watching it since I can remember, back on the Black & White we had at the farm house. Tonight happened to be the night my Landman decided to fire up the furnace, we burn wood not gas. I woke up sweating because I had grown used to using my electric blanket and trying not to touch the floor. Since I was up and super excited for tomorrow, I figured I would make this post. I found a great image of all the Doctors, on the Internet (Tracked it back to here) 20131123-051530.jpg I thought they would be great as patterns so I whipped a couple up. I also have a couple Tardis washcloths I had previously posted on my old blog. I hope to get the rest of the Doctors up by January, so stop back & check up on them. If you would really like one in particular for me to work on next, let me know. I’m not going in any order. I’m going to try and go back to sleep, and not sleep in for all the fun. Enjoy & save some Jelly Babies for me! -Molina
P.S. These would also make a simple bag. Make two sides, just like the pillow, line with fabric and ad a strap. 20131123-045832.jpg Tardis Washcloth Small 20131123-045900.jpg IMG_2006.JPG *Transformed into a throw by Christine
